FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions (and the questions you're all thinking but too afraid to ask)
Q: How should I prepare for my appointment?

A: Please be ready for your appointment with a clean face, free of any makeup residue. If you have a skincare routine, you can apply any desired products, but I will gently cleanse your skin and apply my own combination of skincare products at the start of your appointment. It is also helpful to have pictures of the kind of makeup you want (examples of what you DON'T want are good too). If you don't have pictures, we can certainly still work together to create a look you love! If you want to ensure your makeup looks as good as it possibly can, taking care of your skin on a daily basis is essential! Especially for those with dry skin (like myself), investing in some hydrating skincare products is a game changer for the makeup to apply seamlessly and not look cakey on your skin.

Q: With so many makeup artists out there, why should I hire you?
A: I'm by no means the best makeup artist out there, so I take no offense to anyone (even friends and family) if they want to use another makeup artist. Makeup is just as personal as what outfit you want to wear to your event. There are so many styles, that you have to pick what you feel most confident in. Take a look at multiple artists' portfolios and see whose work resonates with you most. It took me a while to shake the imposter syndrome, but I have tons of confidence in my skills and my ability to create beautiful, timeless makeup. My signature style is natural glam/soft glam. If you ask for something really heavy or dramatic, I'll do it but it's not my specialty. Some other reasons that hiring me may appeal to you:
-
I pride myself in professionalism which includes being punctual, responding to inquiries in a timely manner, and obsessing over hygiene and sanitation practices.

Makeup is my side hustle! I have a full-time job and a jam-packed personal life so I am not your typical booked and busy makeup artist and that's by choice! I give full-time artists SO much credit but I decided years ago that I couldn't give up my personal life on the weekends and am so much happier doing this on the side. I've been freelancing part time for over a decade so I still have plenty of experience...I'm just way easier to book than a full time artist! Yes, that means I can even do your bridal trial on a Saturday :)

Some people may want the super pretty influencer type of artist who is never seen without makeup, always has a cute outfit on, etc. but I'm just your average girl! Maybe you're not into the makeup world and are already nervous about getting glammed up. I promise I am not intimidating. I will probably show up in sweats and no makeup (especially for those early morning appointments haha).

This one can definitely be a positive or negative depending on your personality, but I am very quiet during the makeup service. This is partly because I'm introverted, but mostly because I struggle to hold a conversation and concentrate on the makeup application at the same time lol. I truly love chatting with my clients and getting to know them, but if I go silent at any point, please be warned - it's not personal. 9 out of 10 times it's while I'm doing eyeliner! And if it's an early morning appointment I will be extra quiet because I don't drink coffee.

I'm affordable! I don't like advertising this because it looks like a cheap tactic to get business. I'm not a fan of absurdly low-priced makeup artists who "water down" the industry and make it hard for full time artists to earn what they deserve. That's not what I'm doing. My normal clients know I'm not super cheap. But my brides...I have a soft spot for you after being a bride myself! I was so appalled at the cost of everything associated with weddings and am happy to offer a price that tends to be less than your average bridal makeup artist in the metropolitan area.
